Japher – Four – Tiered Tibetan Ritual Rice Pot: Japher is considered one of the basic Buddhist Ritual Object and is used to store offerings such as; rice, barley or any other grains as well as other ritual substances to the god and goddess in a ritual ceremony for instance during ceremonies to bless the land or buildings and during the recitation of auspicious verses.
When Buddhism was first introduced in Tibet, flower petals were commonly scattered during ritual ceremonies. However, as flowers were scarce in Tibet’s harsh climate and landscape, Tibetan improvised by replacing flower petals with grains of barley and later rice grains.
The Japher – Four – Tiered Tibetan Ritual Rice Pot is a vertical cylindrical object with multiple tiers of partition storage which is used to keep offerings in a ritual ceremony. The different tiers enable compact and convenient storage of other commonly – used ritual substances, such as mustard seeds, holy rilbus and protector rice or other grains.
