Auspicious Tibetan Dukkar Sitatapatra Sungkhor Protection Butti Amulet
Sungkhors are protective charms/buttis/amulets that contain miniature figures of specific deities folded into many folds and intricately hand woven by nylon five element colors Red, Blue, White, Orange and Green thread in mandala outline designs stipulated by Vajrayana texts of the specific deities. Although all enlightened deities are prefect in their blessing qualities, each deity is often associated with a different enlightened quality.
This Auspicious Sungkhor Butti or Amulet features the image of Dukkar, Sitatapatra. Dukkar, also called Sitatapatra, is a special protective aspect of Tara known as the Goddess of the White Parasol. She has a thousand faces, a thousand arms and a thousand legs, representing her omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent nature. She protects all beings from the Eight Great Fears of pride, ignorance, anger, envy, wrong views, avarice, attachment, and doubt. These mental factors are called fears because they cause suffering and are therefore to be feared and avoided. Dukkar’s parasol, or umbrella, indicates her ability to protect sentient beings from sufferings such as floods, fires, earthquakes and other natural catastrophes, sickness and disease, as well as from interference by spirits and other negative forces. Dukkar is especially revered in regions of Tibet, China, and Mongolia.
This Sungkhor / Butti / Amulet is designed as a handy pocket sized which can be fit into a wallet or purse so that one can carry where ever he/she goes and can be worn around the neck as a pendant or could also be hanged on the doors or cars.
